Compare two dual packages, not a single kit with an extra arm
The initial dual-gate shortlist contains Ghost Controls TDS2XP and TOPENS AD5S. Each is sold as a two-arm package, but the charging equipment, battery system and mounting hardware differ. A second gate leaf also adds another mounting location and a cable route to resolve.
Our comparison keeps dual kits separate from the single-gate list. Switching between them changes the selected pair instead of placing a single-arm package beside a dual package and implying the two solve the same purchasing task. Neither comparison approves the physical gate or installation.
Manufacturer source ↗Manufacturer source ↗TDS2XP: what the default package gives you
Ghost’s current TDS2XP page lists two arms with different cable lengths, a 10W solar panel, two remotes and the default pull-to-open hardware. The battery is not included. For an outward-opening pair, plan to confirm two appropriate push-to-open bracket sets rather than one. Round-post mounting may require additional adapters.
There is a significant specification conflict to preserve: the Amazon title observed in our catalog check and the current manufacturer page describe different maximum spans. We do not reconcile those into a green “fits your gate” result. Ask the manufacturer to confirm the exact kit revision and applicable dimensional limits before purchase.
Current XP package guidance is also distinct from older Ghost configurations. Do not assume an AC transformer or a particular phone accessory works simply because older material for a similar model mentions it. Controller generation and solar power demands matter when adding connectivity.
Manufacturer source ↗Manufacturer source ↗AD5S: panels and bracket choices included, batteries separate
The TOPENS AD5S default package includes two arms, two 10W panels, the TCS3 controller, TS24-U charging adapter, two remotes, two push and two pull brackets, and a 25-foot extension cable. That resolves more of the default hardware list, but does not mean the mounting geometry or cable route is suitable at every site.
The solar-only configuration still needs a separately purchased 24V battery system. TOPENS specifies at least 12Ah for that configuration. Its included charging adapter charges batteries; it should not be counted as proof that the opener operates battery-free. Separate power alternatives have their own configuration requirements.
Do not combine the largest advertised length and weight as if both apply together. TOPENS’ weight-versus-length limits describe different operating boundaries. A package comparison cannot turn the marketing headline into installation approval, especially for gate construction with significant wind loading.
Manufacturer source ↗Manufacturer source ↗Put the two lists next to each other
For solar hardware, the documented contrast is 10W included with Ghost and 20W included with TOPENS. That does not establish twice the operating capacity or better winter reliability. For battery shopping, the contrast is a 12V system versus a 24V system in the configurations described here. For outward-opening hardware, Ghost calls for additional sets while TOPENS includes brackets.
The price of the opener alone hides those distinctions. First establish the exact required parts, then check current seller offers for the kit and extras. We publish no complete installed cost, and unknown site work never disappears from the list just because it lacks a price.
Manufacturer source ↗Manufacturer source ↗Resolve the second-leaf details before ordering
Check the full route between arms and control equipment, where the battery and panel will sit, and the mounting geometry on both posts. Verify each proposed cable extension and accessory against the current manual. A cable that is included can still be too short for the actual routing or inappropriate to extend casually.
Print or share the dual comparison, mark which questions the seller or installer has answered, and retain the exact bundle description. This is a source-researched inventory aid. We have not installed these kits, measured solar runtime or tested their safety systems.
